What is the difference between counsellors, psychologists and psychiatrists?

Counsellors assist clients in making lasting change and/or improving their welfare as they deal with a variety of mental health and emotional issues. Psychologists evaluate and treat your mental health using psychotherapy (talk therapy), psychological evaluations and testing. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can diagnose and treat mental health conditions. They can prescribe medications and other medical treatments.

What if I decide to change my therapist/psychologist?

You can inform your attending counsellor/psychologist or inform one of the administrative staff and they can help you find a solution. Our team is dedicated to providing the best care for you therefore, don’t hesitate to inform them as they will try their best to either solve your problem or find you another professional best suited for you.

What do I need to know before coming in for a session?

Therapy is a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings. It’s okay to be nervous, but your therapist is there to guide you and help you navigate your journey toward better mental health and well-being.

What can you expect from sessions?
